Play with history

There are TONS of things kids can do to have fun at Bath Fest!

Here are just a few…..

  • Learn about an heroic rescue off of the coast of the Outer Banks as you go back in time to 1918 with Keeper James as he tells the story of of the Life Saving Service rescue of the SS Mirlo torpedoed by a German U-boat.
  • Meet Carol Dillon, the Buxton resident that inspired the character, Taffy Willis, in book Taffy of Torpedo Junction.
  • Learn about the World War I time period through living history interpreters.
  • Learn about the red poppy, a traditional symbol of World War I and the poem In Flanders Fields.

PLUS….. Bath Fest Children’s Art Show (awards ceremony at 1:00 pm)

Bath Fest will again feature the artwork of local students from Bath Elementary School.  The range of talent shown by last year’s artists was amazing.  We know that the brilliant young artists of Bath will once again enlighten our senses.

Judging of student artwork will be fair and unbiased.  A panel of  judges will meet before the event to select winners in each of the categories,  which are based on the artist’s grade level.  First, second, and third place winners in each category will receive special recognition on the day of Bath Fest.
